Poetic translations. A Visual journey
Portland-based, Peruvian painter William Hernandez returned for his second solo exhibition at ArtXchange Gallery in Seattle with Poetic Translations, a vibrant series of paintings about relationships and memories. Inspired by poems from Portland writer Christa Kaainoa, Hernandez’s characters spring from a collection of imaginary fairytales and fables, with a blend of whimsy and melancholy throughout the dreamlike scenes.

MILAGROS
ArtXchange Gallery presented Milagros, paintings by William Hernandez. This exhibit opened in October, the Peruvian Month of Miracles and coincided with Seattle Art Museum’s Peru: Kingdoms of the Sun and Moon exhibition. Audiences had the opportunity to explore how Hernandez uses art to create a bridge that spans his past traditions and faith to his life today as an artist, husband, father and Peruvian living in the Pacific Northwest.
